Title:

Application of the Device of Measurement of Bioelectric Activity of Muscles and Nerve Structures for Gesture Recognition - Application of Gesture Recognition on the Example of Action Game

Authors:

Levanov Alexey Alexendrovich

Abstract: Using the device bioPlux we can identify a set of user gestures, and based on them to create a multimodal interface. Gestures are selected so that they are not dependent on each other. The main goal of the research is to create a simple game which can be controlled by using different hand movements. Relevance of the topic from the practical point of view is determined by the need to create a software system that can use sign language interface in real time.

Title:

Data Fusion in Multimodal Interface

Authors:

Alexander Alfimtsev

Abstract: A method of data fusion in multimodal interface using fuzzy fusion operators is described in this paper. Special scenes are determined by dynamic and static patterns for which the sources of information are the results of pattern recognition by low-level algorithms.

New ‘Spider’ Convex Hull Algorithm - For an Unknown Polygon in Object Recognition

Authors:

Dmitriy Dubovitskiy and Jeff McBride

Abstract: Object recognition in machine vision system and robotic applications has, and is still, an important aspect in automation applications of our everyday life. Although there are a lot of machine vision algorithms there are not always entirely clear and unified solutions for particular applications. This paper is concerned one particular step in image interpretation connected with the convex hull algorithm. This new approach to the process of convex hull step of object recognition offers a wide range of application and improves the accuracy of decision making on later steps. The challenging fundamental problem of computational geometry is offering the solution in this work to solve convex hull procedure for an unknown image polygon. The unique feature of the offered new approach is the flexible intersection of all convex set points of an object on a digital image. The convex combination points remains unknown and allow us to get the real vector space. The image segmentation algorithm and decision making procedure working in conjunction with this new convex hull algorithm will take robotic applications to a higher level of flexibility and automation. We present this unique procedure for automating and a new model of image understanding.

Title:

Microwave Radiation as Interface to the Brain Functional State

Authors:

V. S. Kublanov

Abstract: The paper deals with investigations of spectral characteristics of fluctuations of brain microwave radiation changes in metabolism production in the brain tissue. In the frequency band from 0.02 Hz to 0.013 Hz, these fluctuations mainly show liquid circulation of products in the intercellular and intracellular spaces of brain tissue. In the frequency band below 0.013 Hz, these fluctuations show thermodynamic changes in tissues. This conclusion is related to radiation in the frequency band from 650 to 850 MHz and is based on the results of anaysis of the phenomenological models of brain tissue radiation and thermodynamic processes in it, and, also, on the experimental data received by means of the measuring radiophysical system.

Title:

An EMG-based Assistive Orthosis for Upper Limb Rehabilitation

Authors:

Luis M. Vaca Benitez, Niels Will, Marc Tabie, Steffen Schmidt, Elsa Andrea Kirchner and Jan Albiez

Abstract: In this work an upper limb active orthosis for assistive rehabilitation is presented. The design and torque control scheme of the orthosis that take into account important aspects of human rehabilitation, are described. Furthermore, first results of successful muscle activity detection and processing for the operation of the orthosis in two movement directions are presented. The proposed system is the first step towards an adaptive support of patients with respect to the strength of their muscle activity. To allow an adaptive support, different methods for EMG analysis have to be applied which allow to correlate muscle activity strength with the recorded signal and thus enable to adapt the support of the orthosis to the needs of the patient and state of therapy.
