From Malta International Airport (Airport code: MLA)

Malta International Airport is the main international airport in Malta, which accommodates all international flights to the country. It’s located 9km away from Valletta, roughly 20 minutes by bus.

Bus:

The most affordable way to travel from the airport to Valletta is by bus. Malta Public Transport operates “Express Buses” that connect the airport with major areas across the island.

To reach Valletta, you can take the TD4 route, which runs from the airport bus terminal between 5:20 AM and 11:50 PM.

Taxis:

Taxis are available to book at the Malta International Airport. They go to Valletta and other locations on Malta Island. Taxis at the airport can be booked at a set price so you will know how much it costs before you get in the car.

Airport Transfer:

Malta’s International Airport offers a hotel shuttle service, which provides convenient trips to and from your hotel in Malta. Transfers with fixed prices can be managed through the booking system here. Alternatively, transfer arrangements can be made on the booking desk in the baggage reclaim area.

Rent-a-Car:

Renting a car in Malta is relatively cheap compared to other major European destinations. Moreover, there are many international and local car rental companies that operate in Malta and most of them have booths set up at the airport. You can also book a car online and just pick it up after you land.

Directions to Valletta by car: From the airport, go straight across the roundabout, following signs for Valletta. Turn right at the second roundabout and left at the third. At the end of the hill, turn left and then right into the main road. Drive north towards Valletta, passing Portes des Bombes, towards Floriana. On the roundabout, take the third exit onto Triq Girolamo Cassar. Keep going and you will see the city walls. Once you go through them, you’re in Valletta.
